August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). For patients of Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center, we have most adult vaccinations available to meet you vaccination needs. If we do not have a needed vaccine available, we can direct you to an appropriate place so that you can acquire it. Your vaccine questions can be answered at any appointment, and you can call to make arrangements to get a vaccine outside of appointment times. Remember, vaccination helps prevent serious illness. Even if you get sick from the flu or COVID, you may not get as sick as you would have if you were not vaccinated. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Use the Adult Vaccine Assessment Tool to find out what you need
If you are not a patient of Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center or you are curious about which vaccines are recommended for you, see these tools below. There is an interactive vaccine assessment tool available through the CDC with a link below.
Flu Shots Save Lives
We will be entering the season or annual influenza vaccinations. Everyone could benefit from a flu shot, but people who have chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and lung conditions (e.g., asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) can also lower their risk of serious illness or dying.
Where Can I get a flu shot?
For patients of Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center, we will be having our annual flu shot days with “drive-through” flu shots on Wednesday September 21, September 28, and October 5. More details to come. If you are not a patient of the clinic, flu shots can be gotten easily at local pharmacies.
