Sleeves Up for Flu Shots

By Sister Mary Sarah Macht, RSM, MSN, FNP-BC

Updated February 5, 2022:

It is not too late to get a flu shot.  “Influenza activity has decreased in recent weeks but is still elevated nationally. While flu is unpredictable, flu activity is expected to continue for several weeks.” (CDC 2/5/2022)**

It’s never been easier for Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care patients to get a flu shot.

Offering both FLUZONE and FLUZONE HIGH DOSE quadrivalent vaccine, patients will be given the appropriate vaccination based on age.

What about other vaccinations?

Sacred Heart Mercy Health Care Center offers many other vaccinations for adults.

Information from the CDC:

When is the best time to get my flu vaccine?

September and October are good times to get vaccinated.  Getting vaccinated in July or August is too early, especially for older people, because of the likelihood of reduced protection against flu later in the flu season. However, as long as flu viruses are circulating, vaccination should continue, even in January or later.[i]

Who needs a Flu Shot?

Even healthy people can get the flu, and it can be serious. Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine. This means you. This season, protect yourself—and those around you—by getting a flu vaccine.
